On Wednesday, Defense Secretary Mattis was being asked why the Pentagon would approve President Trump’s request for a military parade, on which he responded that it’s an example of how Trump “respects” the military.
“I think what my responsibility is to make certain I lay out the strategy and make the argument for the oversight of Congress to make the determination of fully funding us. As far as the parade goes again, the president’s respect, his fondness for the military, I think is reflected in him asking for these options,” Mattis told reporters.
Providing lot of money to have a military parade to prop up Trump’s ego? It’s incredible the Fox hosts caught on to that.
The internet was immediately overflown with much derision over the parade and the costs.

Trump isn’t doing this to express his respect to the military; that’s never been the real reason why military parades occur. It’s a display of power and force. The only question is who this message of military dominance is for. Currently, it could just as likely be American people as North Koreans or ISIS.
